The author observes that vitamin D deficiency is associated with a higher risk of tuberculosis, such as with people with low serum vitamin D levels e.g. the elderly and patients with kidney disease.

The richest dietary sources of vitamin D include: butterfat, lard, eggs, liver, organ meats, marine oils and seafood.
